What if 35,000 people showed up at a rally yet no one came? Updated
Can you imagine, for a moment, that 35,000 people showed up in DC at Lafayette Park across from the White House to protest the Iraq War and you not hearing about it in any of the major dailies or on any of the TV news networks? Or, perhaps, 35,000 rally to oppose drilling in the ANWR and that not be considered news by the media? What if 35,000 people showed up in New York at the UN to protest the presence of Iranian President Ahmadinejad there and to support the enforcement of UN resolution 1701 by which the UN ended Israel’s war with Hezbollah?
As to the latter: they did. This past Monday Yesterday. Only you never heard about it if you get your news from any of the major media outlets in America. How can this possibly not be news? The closest I can get to finding actual coverage by a news agency was the New York Sun in an article on 8 September where they spoke of a rally being planned, but even the Sun had no article on the actual rally after it occurred. Frankly, the only reason I know about it is from Power Line.
Even in New York and Washington – where much smaller protests are reported regularly – an event where 35,000 people show up (hey, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and cut the number to 20,000, if you like) doesn’t go unnoticed and unreported unless someone works at not noticing and not reporting. This is just disgusting that our so-called “news media” is more interested in advancing agendas than in reporting news.
Update: hat tip to Captain’s Quarters, I see the New York Sun has posted a story on the rally now. Also, I’d like to note a correction: I said that the rally was Monday. It wasn’t, it was yesterday, the 20th.
