Battle is joined in Iraq

19 June, 2007 (15:15) | GWOT, Military | By: ricjames

Michael Yon has the latest dispatch up at his site. Our forces have engaged the enemy in the largest battle in a couple of years. Read Yon’s dispatch for the details.

I note that he has reprinted a verse from a prayer card he found there and draws the name of his post from the title of the hymn on that card, “Be Not Afraid.” What he has printed is the 1st verse and refrain. In reply, I will offer the second as a prayer to our troops that have now joined in battle:

If you pass through raging waters in the sea, you shall not drown.  If you walk amid the burning flames, you shall not be harmed.  If you stand before the pow’r of hell and death is at your side, know that I am with you through it all.

Be not afraid.  I go before you always.  Come follow me, and I will give you rest.
