Glen Caroline to run for LCRC Chairman
I received an e-mail today from an individual I admire and respect telling me about some news regarding the Loudoun County Republican Committee (LCRC). The mass meeting will be coming up in March 2008 wherein the LCRC will, in accordance with the bylaws, “dissolve” and re-form. This is the meeting where Committee officers are chosen, most notably the Chairman’s seat. After Paul Protic announced in November that he wasn’t going to stand for re-election, several names have been bandied about. (I personally think Randy Minchew did a terrific job when I was pretty active with the LCRC ahead of the 2003 County elections but I understand why he’d not want to return.)
The news given to me today is that Glen Caroline is tossing his hat in the ring and will run for election for the Chairman’s seat. Who’s Glen Caroline, you say? Excellent question. At this point, I usually flex my Internet muscles and start tossing out links to various resources pointing to an individual in order to begin the info-gathering phase of any important decision. After beating on a few search engines in a variety of ways, I was virtually unable to come up with anything except for announcements similar to this one seen over at The Virginia Federalist (scroll down), which is actually just a link to this one over at Too Conservative.
That’s a bad thing, right?
Not so much, actually. The fact that Mr. Caroline is a virtual unknown means he’s not carrying a ton of baggage. It will also force the members of the LCRC to engage in a practice called “getting to know someone” as opposed to branding them with whatever issue iron they’re used to using. Such a process invariably forces people to actually think about their preconceptions and maybe – maybe – assess whether they should be keeping them. I look forward to this eagerly.
As for Mr. Caroline, I’m going to be trying to get a bit more knowledgeable about him and his stances myself. More to come as available and permitted.
To Mr. Caroline, let me say this. Welcome to the stage, sir, and the best of fortune go with you. You come highly recommended, worry not. I look forward to hearing more about you.

Kinda tells you that LI is more ontop of things than his critics give him/her credit for, eh?
I’m looking forward to supporting Mr. Caroline in the March Meeting

Don’t care who ‘broke’ the story, care about the quality leader who is stepping forward for the LCRC. Cheers Glen!

Agreed. Jim Caroline is a very solid, rationale, and principled gentlemen who has very broad appeal to the various family factions in the LCRC.
The unit chairman job is not an easy one, but is critically important. We have seen excellent and substandard chairmen over the years, and Glen Caroline’s track record tends to show that he will fit into the excellent category.
On a personal note, I think that Glen will put an end to some of games and shenanagans that have plagued the LCRC during Paul Protic’s two-year administration.

Glen is solid Virginian and an even better representative of Loudoun County. I fully support Glen for Chairman of the new LCRC in March.
