Air America’s Rhodes suspended for frothing rant on Clinton, Ferraro

Until I saw this story this morning, I didn’t even realize Air America, the failed left-wing attempt at talk radio, was even still on the air. Seems one of their radio personalities, someone called Randi Rhodes, called Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro each a “f—ing whore” on air. That’s not the part of this story that drew my eye, however. That our left-wing fellow citizens tend more toward foul language on the air and in the blogosphere isn’t news to those of us who have been keeping up with things. Our Republican candidates and public officials have been called this and much, much worse for years. No, the part that raised an eyebrow with me was this response by Ferraro:

Ferraro said Rhodes should be fired.

“What did they do with Don Imus when he went after the young black team who was playing basketball with kind of the same language? Treat them both the same,” Ferraro told FOX News. “She’s coming at me and Hillary in a … sexist way”

I don’t recall Imus using the word “f—ing” when he said what he did about that team. Come to think of it, I don’t think he actually articulated the word “whore”, although that’s what “ho’s” is meant to imply. Bottom line, I think there’s a significant degree of difference between the term “nappy-headed ho” and “f—ing whore.” It’s not that I disagree with Ferraro that Rhodes ought to be fired, it’s her implication that what Rhodes did only drops into the gutter as far as Imus’s comments did.

Anyway, I’ve got no skin in that game. This one is all Democrat and both Ferraro and Clinton get to deal with the kind of atmosphere their party has helped generate. Good luck with that, ladies.
