MSM coverage of McCain overwhelmingly more negative

23 October, 2008 (06:06) | 2008 Presidential Race, Politics, The Media | By: ricjames

Most of we in the rightish side of the blogosphere consider this to be from the “No Sh*t, Sherlock” department but it’s nice to see the story getting some air nonetheless. A story on FoxNews.com – written by the AP, even – shows that coverage of McCain by the MSM is far, far more negative than that provided to the MSM’s preferred candidate, Obama.

“It’s quite possible for there to be elements of enthusiasm for one candidate or another,” said Tom Rosenstiel, director of the Washington-based think tank. “That’s a failure of professionalism if it’s there. But this report can’t suss it out.”

McCain and Obama have received an equal amount of media attention since the conventions.

The project judged 57 percent of the stories about McCain as negative, with 14 percent positive. The rest were neutral.

Obama’s coverage was mixed: 36 percent positive, 29 percent negative, 35 percent neutral, the study found.

That report is by The Project for Excellence in Journalism. Nice to see them recognize it. Now how about doing something about it?

Lets see this report is on FOXnews??????? Well that explains it. Anything reported on fox news is always fair and balanced.

Please they may as well rename foxnews the republican tabloid. By the way fox news is actually called tabloid in the tv guides not news like cnn and the legitimate news stations.

Yeah, ’cause CNN is SO unbiased and would never gimp the news for their own benefit. (Eason Jordan ring a bell?) However, if you had bothered to read the story or even my entire blog entry you’d see that Fox News put up a story about the report, not the report itself. So you’ll have to direct your unsupported tabloid accusations to The Project for Excellence in Journalism, instead. See the post for a link there. Thanks for stopping by!

FoxNews has tracked down numerous folks of note (which LeeJ will NEVER be) and asked them (open mike totally for free comment)to offer just ONE ISSUE where Fox has altered facts or biased coverage…
To date: NOT ONE of the numerous interviews has been able to give even ONE issue where Fox can be proven to have shown bias.
Lee, Even if you cannot recognise the importance of hearing two sides of the story and making up your own mind instead of deliberately presenting only one side of the story to listeners and having them walk around sounding like idiotic parrots….It is of the utmost importance to me.

I heard somewhere that you’ve been calling yourself a longtime Republican. My first response is: That’s funny, because in the years I’ve attended Loudoun’s Republican meetings, I’ve never seen you at one.
Secondly, for all this “Republican” foofaraw that you’ve been throwing around on numerous blogs and forums, you sure do refer to the group in the most negative and censorious manner that I’ve ever seen someone address a truly fair news outlet.
