Always faithful, indeed. Updated: Happy Birthday, USMC!
Our Marines, always ready and steady when the bad stuff goes down. Even when it’s California hotel on fire.
A half-dozen off-duty Marines who raced through a burning motel on Sunday warning sleeping guests that it was on fire were hailed as lifesaving heroes.
Everyone escaped the Americas Best Value Inn motel, including one elderly man who required oxygen after he was carried to safety by one of the Marines. The cause of the fire, which ignited shortly before 8 a.m., was under investigation.
Damn fine work, boys. Take note from the story that people awakened by the Marines were unable to smell smoke even right next door to rooms on fire and no fire alarms were going off. Without those Marines’ quick thinking and fast actions, we’d be reading about dozens dying in a fire this morning.
Update: Just brought to my attention is the fact that the US Marine Corps is 223 years old, today. Happy Birthday, USMC!
