Polls close in Virginia

4 November, 2008 (19:34) | 2008 Presidential Race, Politics, Virginia Politics | By: ricjames

Well, 1st things 1st: I clearly underestimated how busy I’d be at the poll. I was hoping to be able to put in occasional updates throughout the day but just couldn’t dedicate the time to thumb one in on the PDA phone I have.

The turnout was plenty strong in the precinct I worked. Based on the numbers I heard from the polling officers, I’m estimating a 65% turnout at this precinct. Team “O” was certainly present, but they weren’t an overwhelming force by any means and I didn’t get the impression of a blowout either way. We’ll have to wait and see.

I wanted to pass along my sincere thanks to Christopher, Janet, Leon, Caroline, Macki & Ron, Sarah, LuAnne and all of the kids and adults from Generation Joshua for all of your help at the polls today. It’s volunteers like you that make all of the difference and I really, really appreciate your efforts today.

The Virginia State Board of Elections site is here and they’ll post results as they get them. More to come on that in another post. For now, I’m taking a load off my feet and taking a break. I’ll put up another post about the results later on.
