Hamas proposes a year-long truce with Isreal

26 January, 2009 (09:09) | GWOT, Politics | By: ricjames

Yes, I’m sure it’s a tempting offer. Hamas is proposing a truce – which the rest of the world defines as “we don’t shoot at each other” – for a year so long as Isreal opens the border between Gaza and Isreal. Considering how well that’s worked in the past, I cannot imagine what incentive Isreal would have to agree to that. Hamas has done nothing with past truces except re-arm and prepare attack positions and any time open borders exist between the 2, Hamas sends suicide bombers to blow up busloads of civilians. Oh, and there’s that little matter of Hamas’s soldiers firing a few explosive rockets into Isreali towns every other day during Hamas’ last “truces.”
