Montgomery County citizens suddenly not laughing at illegal immigration
The Washington Post has a front-page story in this morning’s edition on a dawning realization by the citizens of Montgomery County, MD. After years of wagging accusing fingers at those of us who see illegal immigration as a problem precisely because it’s illegal and tends to cause a rise in crime wherever it’s allowed, it seems they’re looking at a 7.7% increase in serious crime and the cause is becoming clear. Their sanctuary, never-say-enforce attitude has had precisely the effect we on the strong enforcement support side said it would. And it appears even they are starting to realize it. Now, their police department is coming up with a proposal to actually check the immigration status of those arrested for violent and serious criminal acts.
The proposal is a departure from past practice for a police agency that has cultivated relations with immigrant communities. The department has long taken the position that delving into immigration matters could jeopardize cooperation from crime victims and witnesses, undermining public safety.
Manger, who is crafting the proposal with his senior staff, declined to comment. Assistant Chief Wayne M. Jerman said recently that “all public officials” have been hearing from residents that the county needs to be more aggressive on the issue.
While I’d love to see them admit they were wrong about the issue I have no illusions of actually seeing that. I’ll be satisfied with them enacting such a proposal and joining us in aggressively enforcing our laws. By doing so together we are more effective and that’ll work well for everyone involved. The law-abiding, in any case.

I knew it was only a matter of time once the mass exodus from PWC ended up in Montgomery. This is “We told you” in action.

Just unbelievable the problems with these ILLEGAL ALIENS. It’s just one thing after another with them.
Talk about touching my last nerve with these ILLEGAL ALIENS, this newscast really did it! Got two minutes? Check it out.
http://www.kpho.com/news/18451472/detail.html
I can’t say the ILLEGAL ALIENS are completely to blame for the shape of our economy, but they are a BIG part of the problem. The ILLEGAL ALIENS send BILLIONS upon BILLIONS out of this Country every year, money we will NEVER see again. Does this help our economy?
How about the BILLIONS the American taxpayers fork out for the ANCHOR BABIES, the schooling of them, the medical care and the list goes on, and on, and on.
How about the MILLIONS upon MILLIONS paid to jail ILLEGAL ALIENS for the crimes, then the cost to deport them. Does this help our economy?
Then you have these activist groups that want AMNESTY for these ILLEGAL ALIENS. It would be absolute suicide for this Country if AMNESTY were granted to the 20 million or so ILLEGAL ALIENS. We have more and more people out of work everyday and they want to add another 20 million to this Country? I say, “NO”!
If AMNESTY were ever granted to these 20 million ILLEGAL ALIENS, you can bet big money that 3 years from now, there would be ANOTHER 3-5 million ILLEGAL ALIENS demonstrating on our soil for AMNESTY. I don’t wish to lose my privilege on this site, so I will refrain from using the words that fit here.
An end MUST come to this illegal immigration. The perfect tool we have so far is E-Verify. It MUST be used by ALL businesses and Government Social Services. EVERY employee must be checked! If they are illegal, they are to be dismissed!
I believe it is time for all 50 States to pass a State law, like Arizona, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina and a few others. It is time for these ILLEGAL ALIENS to go back to their home Country and get out of this Country. The problems they are causing will not go away until the ILLEGAL ALIENS are out of this Country. I think that is plain to see.

Chief Manger’s plan does not go far enough. I would implement a plan that is broader and at the same time more fair. I would check the citizenship and/or immigration status of every person who is taken into police custody. By checking everyone, the Montgomery County Police avoid the charge of “profiling.” Compare this to passing through airport security, where everyone is treated the same. By checking everyone and reporting those detected illegal aliens to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, prior to the illegal aliens release, Montgomery County will be made safer

First of all we must all remember that unless we are native American, at one point (whether 300 years ago or 20 years ago)our ancestries came from somewhere else. Now with that said I would have to agree that some things must change in the county with regards to illegal aliens. It really bothers me that as a tax payer, my money goes to help the thousands of illegal women having children at my expense. If you want to have your prized u.s.citizen baby then pay a portion if not all of the cost to have the child. They don’t pay taxes so why should tax paid benefits be available to them. I feel the same when it comes to providing public education. Our schools’ are becoming over crowded and our children are not getting the education they should.
We need to be careful not to profile, because as many Montgomery county residents know we have a large population of Brazilians. Most of these Brazilians come from an area in Brazil where the majority are fair skinned and can pass for the stereotypical north american. Let everyone be checked with no bias. I support some measure to control the issue on illegal immigrants.
