“Most open and accessible inauguration ever”?

18 January, 2009 (00:31) | Politics, Virginia Politics | By: ricjames

I heard a sound byte on the radio today of Obama talking about this being the “most open and accessible inauguration ever.” Yeah. Tell that to we residents of Virginia who will be sitting on our side of the Potomac River literally banned from driving into the city. And, if we manage to get there via the Metro (sure to be a tight fit all day) then there’s no way to actually get around. WTOP News has the map of closed streets and an update where they’re saying they’re now considering closing parts of I-95 and I-295. They’ve already closed parts of Route 66, the G.W. Parkway, and a whole lot of other roads the inauguration parade isn’t even going to use.

Open and accessible? Only if that means staying the hell away from DC from Sunday through Wednesday and watching it on TV.
