Canadian suggestion: go home to die so we can free up the hospital bed.

Via Hot Air we have this post at Dust my Broom:

According to some Canadian ‘researcher’, if you have a dying aunt in the hospital you should encourage her to get the hell out of there and go home and let someone else have her bed because she is a selfish bastard:

The story linked there described the suggestion by Donna Wilson at the University of Alberta that people “should be encouraged to die at home rather than in a hospital.” This from the folks who think government-run healthcare is a great idea. So, debate question: how much effort do you think they’ll put into actually saving lives when this is in the back of their minds?

Blogging to go.

With my change over to a Blackberry and to my own site, I’ve been looking for blogging software that will let me take the blogging on the road. The choices aren’t great but I’ve found something that works.

I’m using BBMetaBlog which is actually a client for the MetaBlog software. Seems to work for my purposes. Let’s see how this goes and evaluate in a few weeks.

Another $7.5 billion into GMAC

The Treasury is reportedly preparing to sink another $7.5 billion into GMAC. Do the financials of this company warrant putting investment dollars into? Are we ever going to see a dime of this back, seriously?

Can McAuliffe be trusted to abide by Virginia law?

Bearing Drift asks the interesting question after the RPV responded to one of McAuliffe’s statements during Tuesday night’s debates. McAuliffe apparently made the boast that he had “gone into states like Florida — right-to-work,” … “And hired all union workers.” McAuliffe is clearly saying he chose to employ or deny workers based on their union membership status. The RPV statement cited relevant parts of Florida law that make such a practice illegal. They then cite the parts of Virginia law that basically do the same thing and wonder whether McAuliffe can be trusted to abide by Virginia law when he, by his own admission, failed to follow Florida’s laws.

Excellent question and one the voters of Virginia should be asking for answers regarding.
