Ken Cuccinelli receives NRA endorsement for VA AG
I just received an e-mail from the Cuccinelli campaign announcing his endorsement by the National Rifle Association. It’s new enough that it’s not up on the web page in the e-mail format but it’s noted on Cuccinelli’s endorsements page.
This is a big deal and I do place a lot of weight on the NRA’s endorsements. My congrats go to Ken Cuccinelli for being such a steadfast protector of the 2nd Amendment rights of Virginians.
However, as much as this means regarding his character and positions, it does not mitigate the matter of Mr. Cuccinelli not being an experience prosecutor. The Democrat opponent in November has that experience and that’s not an advantage I choose to grant them in the general election. Were the office reversed and it was John Brownlee asking us to nominate him to the Senate candidcacy over Cuccinelli, I’d be making the same argument in Ken’s favor. Perhaps more so, based on this NRA endorsement. But that’s not the situation we’re in.
The GOP needs to put our best candidate for the office of Attorney General forward to the people of Virginia. That’s John Brownlee.
