True fish story: 96-pound, 4½-foot-long catfish caught near Cincinnati

I have family in Cincinnati so references to the Queen City tend to draw my attention. Have a look at this picture showing Chris Rolph beside the fish he pulled out of the Ohio River near Cincinnati, OH. It’s awaiting certification but it’s headed for the record books as the biggest catfish caught in the state. This monster is 54½ inches long and 96 pounds. I know people who have had to dive in that river (search and rescue teams, mostly. Nobody does scuba in the Ohio for the scenery!) and you may rest assured that I won’t be joining them, not with these things waiting down there! It’s 1 thing to dive where you can see the wildlife coming, it’s a whole different thing to be in an environment where your first notice they’re around is when you grab onto the little bugger.

Good catch, Mr. Rolph!
