ICE wants everyone who signed an agreement to participate in the 287(g) program to sign onto a new agreement. The Department of Homeland Security is requiring counties that participate in its illegal-immigration enforcement program to agree to a new focus on violent criminals. The agency is telling counties, including Prince William and Loudoun, to sign [...]

Via Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit, we have this link to autobloggreen where a report is shown where GM could build 70,000 Chevy Volts per year. Reynolds asks, “Can they sell that many?” At $40,000 per? I doubt it.

22 August, 2009 (22:28) | Environment, Human Interest | By: ricjames

My wife called this evening after heading out to the store and told me to look outside and toward the east. There was an incredibly brilliant rainbow arcing completely across my entire view of the sky, from horizon to horizon. This pic just doesn’t do it justice.

21 August, 2009 (08:26) | Politics | By: ricjames

When I was out in Ohio a few weeks ago my father-in-law and I discussed the “Cash for Clunkers” program and he already knew what wouldn’t be reported in the news for several days: dealers weren’t getting paid as they were promised. In his part of northern Ohio there aren’t a huge number of dealers [...]

20 August, 2009 (23:36) | Politics | By: ricjames

Still better than Congress but Obama’s numbers are sliding down a pretty steep slope: President Barack Obama’s popularity has plummeted to a record low, with just 45 percent of voters now approving of his performance, according to the latest Zogby International poll. Asked whether they approve or disapprove of the president’s job performance, just 45.3 [...]

The gall of the man… If President Obama has his way, you’ll soon be hearing about his health care package when you go to your church or synagogue to pray. Good news. U.S. life expectancy has risen to a new high, now standing at nearly 78 years, the government reported Wednesday. The increase is due mainly to falling death rates in almost all the leading causes of death. The average life expectancy for babies born in 2007 is nearly three months greater than for children [...]
