Back on October 9th I wrote about a mailer I received from the Poisson campaign regarding the business standings of Tag Greason, Republican candidate for the 32rd District Delegate seat. In that mailer, Poisson made several accusations about Greason and his business dealings that were severely misleading at best and more than likely outright lies. Yesterday I got a mailer from the Greason campaign offering his response to these accusations and while they’re very much like what I offered I think it’s important to hear it from Tag Greason himself. I’ve scanned in the mailer, front a back, and included it in a PDF you can access by clicking the image below. Be an informed voter. And ask yourself why Dave Poisson’s so interested in lying about Tag Greason.

A few days ago I commented on Keith Bardwell, the jerk Justice of the Peace who decided to apply his own bit of social engineering to interracial couples who came to him asking for a marriage license: he’d deny them. I noticed this follow-up story on Friday but lacked the time to post on it:
Louisiana’s governor and a U.S. senator joined Friday in calling for the ouster of a local official who refused to marry an interracial couple, saying his actions clearly broke the law.
Keith Bardwell, a white justice of the peace in Tangipahoa Parish in the southeastern part of the state, refused to issue a marriage license earlier this month to Beth Humphrey, who is white, and Terence McKay, who is black. His refusal has prompted calls for an investigation or resignation from civil and constitutional rights groups and the state’s Legislative Black Caucus.
Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal said in a statement a nine-member commission that reviews lawyers and judges in the state should investigate.
“Disciplinary action should be taken immediately — including the revoking of his license,” Jindal said.
Well, I guess that answers the question of whether he’s actually an officer of the court or not. He clearly is or he wouldn’t fall under the review of the commission. Good on ya, Governor Jindal. Go get him.

Rob Bluey writes about the candidates for Virginia’s 43rd District over at Too Conservative.
Fundraising numbers for Virginia’s 43rd District paint a stark picture between Democrat Delegate Mark Sickles and Republican challenger Tim Nank.
Sickles, a registered lobbyist, is banking on contributions from special interests to fund his re-election campaign for the House of Delegates. More than 84% of Sickles’ funding and 71% of his contributions since Jan. 1 have come from PACs, labor unions and corporations, according to campaign finance data of itemized gifts more than $100. Just 9% of those donations are from Sickles’ district.
The contrast with Republican opponent Nank couldn’t be more severe. Nearly 88% of Nank’s funding and 93% of Nank’s contributions are from individuals — a sign of his growing grassroots support.
Bluey is a campaign volunteer for Tim Nank, you should be advised, but the numbers speak with their own voice.
This story is something we’re seeing across many of the races in the Commonwealth, notably in the AG’s race. Republicans are drawing their contributions from individuals and largely from Virginians where Democrats are not. Follow the link to Bluey’s post and read the whole thing.

After all of the disaster-level coverage of the “boy in the balloon” incident in Colorado, we now find out that the police have evidence that it was hoax. The parents apparently thought it would make a helluva good addition to their resume to be “reality show” subjects.
A Colorado sheriff said Sunday it was a hoax when parents reported that their 6-year-old son was in a flying saucer-like helium balloon hurtling away from their home.
Sheriff Jim Alderden said Richard and Mayumi Heene “put on a very good show for us, and we bought it.”
“We believe that we have evidence at this point to indicate that it was a publicity stunt done with the hopes of marketing themselves or better marketing themselves for a reality television show at some point in the future,” Alderden said.
The sheriff said no charges had been filed yet, and the parents weren’t under arrest. He said he expected to recommend charges of conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, making a false report to authorities and attempting to influence a public servant.
When this story was unfolding, I didn’t waste time blogging about it. I was busy praying for the boy and his family. To see that it was just some jerk and his wife using their kid as a publicity prop doesn’t exactly engender sympathy from me. However, the best thing we can all do is express our disgust and then let he and his family fade away from the public eye. They don’t warrant so much as the time of day from any of us. Enjoy the fame, you clown. From this point on, I say let the Fort Collins police handle it and have the jackass serve some time in jail for leading the emergency crews on a wild-goose chase. Don’t even bother telling me about it, though. He’s gotten all the attention from me he’s going to get.
